As a first time mom I wanted as natural a birth as possible in a hospital setting. Sylvia was an invaluable resource to me and my husband throughout my pregnancy. She helped us understand all our choices and gave me great confidence going into birth. Then came a 29 hour unmedicated labor. I could NOT have done it without Sylvia. Her encouragement and all the techniques and expertise she brings were what kept me going. I’m so grateful for Sylvia and that she helped me advocate for and achieve the birth experience I wanted!!
The Godwin's Natural Hospital Birth
Having Sylvia as a Doula was an incredible experience. Being first time parents, we had no idea what to expect when it came to giving birth and what our birth plan would look like. Leading up to the birth, Sylvia came to our home several times to walk us through everything and make sure we felt prepared and ready for our birth experience. She was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and comforting when it came to all the questions we had. We went into our 9th month of pregnancy at the beginning of March feeling excited and ready, until COVID-19 hit. Unfortunately, the week before our due date, the hospital banned Doulas in the delivery room. We were so upset but Sylvia remained positive and encouraging and offered to be there virtually for the birth. She also offered to come to our home for the early laboring hours if we felt comfortable – and it just so happened to be on her birthday, nonetheless! I don’t know what my husband and I would’ve done without her help that day. She brought over essential oils for our hospital room, walked me through my early labor contractions at our home, relaxed me and helped me feel prepared for the biggest day of my life thus far. She said she would be on standby for whenever we needed her once she left our house and we headed to the hospital, and she was. She kept in touch with my husband through text message until we checked into our delivery room. From then on, she helped me breathe through contractions virtually and helped me communicate with the nurses on what I needed and the positions I should be in to help me feel comfortable. I know that my husband was much more at ease having here “there” as well. You know you have an incredible Doula when they do just as good of a job not even being there in the room with you! She is an amazing person and even dropped off homemade lactation cookies for me after we got home from the hospital. Highly, highly, recommend Sylvia – you will be so glad you chose to have her be a part of your experience!

If I could give only one piece of advice to any expecting mama it would be to hire a doula and Sylvia would be at the top of the list!
I was setup to give birth at an amazing birth center and at first I wasn’t even sure I needed a doula. Luckily, I saw a friend rave about her experience with Sylvia so we decided to setup a consult.
We immediately felt at ease in Sylvia’s friendly and caring presence. Her bubbly personality meshed well with mine, which I felt was important. She was extremely knowledgeable and immediately made us feel more prepared for the birth of our first son.
Because of how confident having her on our birth team made us feel, we even decided to switch to a home birth! In hindsight we are SO GLAD we went that route. It was a truly beautiful experience.
Sylvia puts her entire heart into her doula care. During my labor she applied counter pressure to my hips which provided me with major relief. She helped my husband know how to comfort me which was huge for him. She also fed me, kept me hydrated and reminded me to breathe.
The list could go on and on. It’s a tiring job that not just anyone could do, but she does it with the biggest smile and so much love! I’ve never felt more taken care of.

I cannot say enough how increíble Sylvia was to my family and I throughout this entire experience. I recently shared by birthing story incl how amazing Sylvia was. But as I sit here 2 weeks postpartum, I feel great. This was my third natural unmedicated birth, but it’s the first one where I didn’t tear and I had minimal hemorrhoid, compared to my prior experiences. The best recovery yet. I owe that to how well Sylvia coached me and took care of me. I’m so happy to have had Sylvia as my doula. You’re the bomb!

If you need someone who will tenderly guide your thoughts, process pain into power, be that still small voice during baby and yours journey, Sylvia is your someone. She encouraged, but never over-stepped her position, that I needed more education about the new journey between me and my baby. She referred reading material, videos, and techniques that turned into a positive outcome.

Sylvia was just amazing. Her knowledge/strength/faith just shine through in everything she does. She made our experience so much better and we don’t know what we would have done without her. Sylvia was an amazing support to both my wife and I - before, during and after the birth of our son at AdventHealth in Altamonte Springs. She worked amazingly with the hospital team and our midwife, was a brilliant advocate for our birth plan, and helped my wife achieve a natural birth after a long labor. As a first time father, I was grateful for how she helped guide me during my wife’s labor. Sylvia’s encouragement, support and experience helped me be the best birth partner for my wife, when really I had no clue what I was doing!
Hiring a doula was a great decision, and Sylvia felt like a great and loving friend to us from the start. We are so grateful she supported us through this experience and we always think of her fondly when we recall our son’s birth
